This is a new hymn tune that has been written as another school hymn for Ripley school in Lancaster, but that The Rev'd Carrie Thompson of St John's Church, Forton, has written words to for this year's Morland Choristers' Camp. The theme of the week was the First-World-War commemoration, and these wonderful words are woven around lines from Laurence Binyon's poem, For the Fallen. Coincidentally, but pleasingly, Binyon was born and lived in Lancaster, where the school is located, after which the tune is named.
They shall not e’er grow old (The Rev'd Carrie Thompson, b.1977); verse 1 based on For the Fallen by Lawrence Binyon, 1869-1943) Tune RIPLEY (Oliver Tarney, b.1984)
